Code Of Professional Ethics

As a member of the MMCT&FOA, I acknowledge and subscribe to the legal, moral and professional standards of conduct. The ethical principles set forth in this code govern the conduct of this membership.

Safeguarding Public Assets

I will maintain safety and accountability of all public funds, property and documents.

Professional Integrity

I will impart standards of integrity and conduct that merit confidence of co-workers, supervisors, council members and the public.

Professional Development

I will strive to acquire continuing professional education and training. I will maintain membership in and support of professional associations.

Professional Relationships

I will conduct all professional relationships with the utmost ideals of honor and function within all legal guidelines.

Responsibility As A Public Official

I will maintain conduct in such a manner as to enhance the stature of this profession to the public. I will adhere to concepts of effective and efficient service in city government.

Member Misconduct

If any member is convicted of a crime that compromises the honesty and integrity essential to this profession, the MMCT&FOA reserves the right to revoke the member’s membership and/or certifications.

As a condition of membership and as a prerequisite for professional certification as a Municipal Clerk, Treasurer or Finance Officer, I hereby affirm that I will conduct the affairs of my office in accordance with the foregoing ethical standards.
